The judges will be looking for entries which demonstrate the following key attributes:

Most Innovative Mobility / Virtual Enterprise Project of the Year

  • A new architectural approach, enabling borderless organisation collaboration (internal, external) to develop and scale value
  • Creativity from concept through assessment to planning and design e.g. addressing new and challenging issues with architectural methodology
  • Improving the organisation’s bottom line in two ways:
    • Revenue generation e.g. enhanced customer experience, improved supply chain management, customer self-service
    • Accelerated value creation and scale e.g. new services for customers trough new partnership/business model, rich collaboration for internal & external meetings, real-time access to critical information
  • Innovation e.g. how the solution has unleashed productivity and competitiveness, improve the time to market of the business, eased adjancencies
  • Secured network (Wired & Wireless) as the Application Delivery Platform e.g. Internal & external collaboration through network based devices, RFID, and video
  • Environmental impact e.g. how the project aligns with a global commitment to reduce the impact on the environment

  • The broadest possible use of the entire Cisco Collaboration solutions portfolio: Unified Communications, Mobility, Customer Interaction Solutions (Contact Center), Telepresence and video, Conferencing (Webex and Meeting Place), Messaging and Social Software (Show&Share, Pulse, Quad)
  • The business impact the project has had on the organisation internally and externally e.g. financial savings, business process evolution and productivity gains, speed and agility, employee education and alignment, environmental impact reduction
  • Innovative application of Unified Communications in a specific vertical sector e.g. Healthcare, Defence, Finance
  • Integration of 3rd party application solution into Cisco Unified Communications
  • New business model adoption e.g. hosted services
  • Pervasive use of video


Most Society Impacting Network of the Year

  • An architectural (IP) networked solution, provided by Government bodies and/or society impacting organisations, which for example:
  • Positively impacts standard of living, education, healthcare, security, poverty, sustainability, etc.
  • Provides the ability to collaborate in Web 2.0 style, community building
  • Has independent & easy access locations for all citizens
  • Is based on open standards platform, non-proprietary and extensible applications
  • Has an Architectural approach, built on top of a borderless network
  • Is sustainable with commonly available programs
  • Improves society integration worldwide
  • Has no barriers to access, whilst still ensuring the network is safe and secure for residents and government employees in various cities, regions, and countries
  • Has a comprehensive suite of user applications with Data, Voice, Video to change how people work, live, learn and play
  • Improves GDP productivity by next generation services e.g. unemployment services
  • Has an Application driven network for social inclusion and genuine access for all
  • Demonstrates a reduction in environmental impact e.g. power consumption reduction, pollution reduction, etc.

  • A new or significantly re-built/re-architected Data Centre facility (note, where applicable, judges will consider the ratio of innovative design, process, best practice etc. verses legacy).
  • Innovation in the areas of Data Centre design, build and operation that may include one or more of the following:
    • Resource virtualisation i.e. network facilities, storage switching, server resources, and security appliances.
    • Significant reduction or optimisation in power consumption (green-friendly DC)
    • Significant increase in availability i.e. redundant multi-site design, business continuity
    • Security i.e. built-in security mechanisms and capabilities
    • Resource optimisation i.e. server balancing, server off-loading, traffic and application optimization, consolidation, grid computing
    • Services, security, management and operations i.e. administration, resource/systems management, outsourcing, advanced infrastructures, cabling, network-based security, automation based on inputs from multiple management components.
    • Effective segmentation of shared infrastructure i.e. adoption of network container concepts.
    • Unified fabric and next generation interconnect adoption i.e. most extensive use of enabling technologies i.e. FCoE, OTV
  • Data Centre team structure, departmental/cross fictional collaboration, reporting, incentives etc. that promote significant improvements in the success and adoption of new project deliverables.
  • Achieved business value for the organisation, e.g. operational efficiency, environmentally friendly, increased flexibility, high-availability, faster services and applications rollout
  • New business model adoption i.e. pay as you grow, pay per use, risk sharing, joint go to market models, revenue sharing
  • Business process re-engineering that exploits consolidation, virtualisation and automation within the Data Centre


Most Innovative Hosted/Cloud Service Offering of the Year

  • A new Service offered through the adoption of an innovative hosted or cloud based architecture:
    • Using latest/advanced technologies and solutions in the Data Centre, in the IT and in the IP NGN space
    • With an innovative Network/DC design
    • Embedding a complete Orchestration layer, including Cisco and Partners
    • Delivering DC + NGN end to end SLA
    • Including Cisco CPE on-premise functions, integrated with Cloud design
    • Leveraging on Virtualization of IT/network resources, services, appliances (Computing, Storage, Mobility, Security, Unified Communication, ..)
    • Providing resource/traffic/application optimization
    • Improving Security through the adoption of innovative built-in security mechanisms and capabilities
    • Service Green : introducing a lower environmental impact and benefits e.g. power consumption reduction, pollution reduction
  • A service offering targeting residential/consumer or business/enterprise/public sector users/customers, dedicated to single, large entities (Private Cloud) or offered as a Public Service to a large customer base (Public Cloud)
  • A service showing innovation from a service delivery perspective:
    • based on innovative service delivery and new business models
    • providing innovative service bundles and charging models
    • providing the ability to offer innovative SLAs and reporting
  • A service demonstrating business value and benefits for the organisation/user adopting it, for the provider offering it, providing proven better cost base than OTT (e.g. Amazon)
