Axel Clauberg, SE Director, Solutions and Architectures, Emerging Markets Theatre, Cisco Systems, Inc.

Axel Clauberg leads the Solutions and Architectures team for Cisco Systems in the Emerging Markets theatre. His team includes the most experienced and skilled Architects and technical Consulting Engineers at Cisco.

Axel joined Cisco as a Consulting Engineer in the German team in 1998. In 2000, he moved into Cisco’s EMEA organisation as a Consulting Engineer focusing on Core IP, MPLS, IP Multicast and IPv6 in both Enterprise and Service Provider environments. Axel was leading the IP Core, Security and Datacentre groups in the EMEA Consulting team since early 2001. In 2005, he took over the leadership for all technical resources in the Technology Marketing organisation for European and Emerging Markets. Axel serves as the responsible content manager for Networkers Europe, Bahrain and Africa.

Axel studied Physics and is involved with Networking and Computing since 1982. Before joining Cisco, he was leading the Networking department at the Computing Centre of the University of Cologne and acting as a freelancing trainer and consultant.

Axel is married and lives with his wife and two daughters in Solingen, Germany. He enjoys travelling and, if time permits, sailing his Contender skiff.
